The Exhibition Stand Essentials Kit
After spending many (many) hours organising and being on stands throughout the years, from the Cannes Lions to Dmexco to MIPIM to NAB, there are some key items you should have on your stand so you're prepared anything. Here’s what I always have in my Exhibition Stand Essentials Kit.
✨ Lip Balm - the air is always dry in convention centres and with the amount of talking you do, it’s a must have.
✨ Water - you’ll drink far more of it than you think you will. If the event organiser is offering it at a discount, take them up on it.
✨ Powerboards - stands often only have a couple of power outlets so taking a powerboard is essential. It makes charging your device, and your teams, so much easier. And if you are exhibiting in a different country, take a powerboard from home - saves on buying loads of adaptors.
✨ Power Adaptors - take 2 or 3 if you are exhibiting abroad…somehow they always seem to go “missing”.
✨ Extension Cords - Sometimes the power outlet is not where you really need it to be.
✨ Band-Aids/Compeeds - between spending hours on your stand and walking long distances, blisters at an exhibition or trade show are a given.
✨ Lollies/Sweets - make sure you have a stock of lollies or sweets to give you a sugar kick throughout the day. If your stand is super busy, you’ll probably skip meals, so be prepared.
✨ Paracetamol - for headaches and hangovers.
✨ Tissues - someone will probably end up with a cold…especially those who burn the candle at both ends during an event.
✨ A calm mind and sense of humour - doesn’t matter how fantastic your plan is or how well prepared you are, something is bound to go wrong. Don’t stress, take a deep breath and enjoy the event.
